Therapy that helps you practise being more fully alive.

Power to Live is a registered UK mental health charity offering relational behavioural therapy for adults who want more than coping strategies. We help you understand the patterns that shape your life, your relationships, and your sense of self, then practise new ways of responding in real time. Every session we fund brings someone closer to a life lived fully, freely, and in connection with others.

Stop talking endlessly about change. Start Relating, Practising, and Becoming.

Income-based therapy from £15 per session. Online across the UK and in person in Bishopsgate, City of London.

Our Story

Power to Live began with a frustration and a conviction.  Too many people who need therapy cannot access therapy that is affordable, skilled, and genuinely transformative. The conviction in investing in therapist training means our clients change through powerful therapeutic interactions. Through practice. Through being met honestly by another human being. Through learning, slowly and bravely, that we can respond differently. Why this work matters to us? Our founder spent years training in behavioural and relational approaches to psychotherapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. These approaches changed more than clinical technique. They changed what therapy could be. Therapy became less about fixing symptoms impersonally, and more about understanding what happens in the living moment: how people reach, hide, protect, disconnect, please, collapse, perform, or long to be seen. The therapy relationship became a place where those patterns could be seen with compassion and changed through practice. Power to Live grew from witnessing the transformation of Tien's clients and herself, learning this powerful approach. Why we are a charity? We are a charity because high-quality therapy should not belong only to people who can afford standard private fees. We are also a charity because the work is bigger than one-to-one therapy.  We want to train therapists better. We want to study what works. We want to create spaces where people can practise connection. We want therapy to be more human, more rigorous, and more accessible. That is the work of Power to Live.

We did an exercise on shame where my therapist took me through a traumatic experience and we reimagined it. It was so incredibly cathartic and I felt a profound shift towards letting

the traumatic situation go.

I think it was really the therapist's way of focusing on me (my thoughts and feelings) by listening,

acknowledging, and challenging me. This behaviour took me from a passive place of blame and victimhood to feeling more powerful to take back control of my life. This was a very active, positive process.

My therapist was always happy to discuss new ideas and learning in how we best worked together. I am autistic and my therapist took on board the language and best way of communicating as well as learning more about working with autistic

clients.

My therapist never judged me or made me feel inadequate. She listened and acknowledged my feelings, and her demeanour

was very warm and welcoming.

FAQs:
What kind of therapy does Power to Live Foundation offer?

Power to Live Foundation is a UK mental health charity providing behavioural and relational psychotherapy for adults.

We specialise in evidence-based behavioural therapies grounded in behavioural science and functional analysis, drawing on approaches including Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Rather than only talking about difficulties, we help you create a behavioural model of the patterns that shape your life and relationships, and practise new ways of responding.

What mental health difficulties can Power to Live help with?

We work with adults experiencing difficulties including anxiety, low mood, stress, social anxiety, low self-worth, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, avoidance, intrusive thoughts, difficulties connecting with others and the longer-term effects of trauma or difficult life experiences. Our assessment helps us understand your individual difficulties and whether our service is appropriate for your needs.

How much does therapy cost?

Power to Live is a mental health charity established to make skilled psychotherapy more accessible. Our therapy fees are based on income, and are subsidised by our incredible donors, with sessions currently starting from £15.

Do you offer online and face-to-face therapy?

Yes. We provide online psychotherapy to adults across the UK and face-to-face therapy in Bishopsgate in the City of London, subject to availability.

How do I start therapy?

The first step is an assessment.

This helps us understand what you are experiencing, what you would like help with and whether our service is appropriate for your needs. If we can help, we then match you with a therapist.

Is low-cost therapy lower-quality therapy?

Our aim is to make high-quality psychotherapy more affordable rather than reduce clinical standards to reduce the price.

Our model combines charitable donations which subsidises the cost, with carefully selected postgraduate therapists.

Our placement therapists undertake an intensive behavioural treatment training programme before treating clients and continue to receive supervision and further clinical training throughout their placement. We also have experienced Senior Therapists who have completed their postgraduate training and are available for more complex clinical work.
